Job Description

On behalf of our EPC client, Petroplan are seeking a Lead Saftey Engineer to manage and uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across all stages of major Oil & Gas projects.

Job Purpose: The Lead Safety Engineer will oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE systems, ensuring strict adherence to regional standards.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Proven experience in HSE management within the Oil & Gas sector, ideally with significant Middle Eastern project exposure.
  • Strong understanding of both regional and international HSE laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring Safety Engineers across various project phases.

Certifications and Professional Qualifications:

  • Must hold at least one recognized HSE qualification from a professional association, such as NEBOSH, CSP, ASP, or CMIOSH, or an equivalent certification.
  • At least one certification in HSE standards, including ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH, or ASSE Certificate in Global Safety Management.

Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 series standards, with hands-on experience implementing these standards within Oil & Gas environments.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment processes, hazard analysis techniques, and safety audit procedures in line with international and industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven track record of clear and effective communication across teams and project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects with a focus on maintaining HSE standards from initiation through to completion.
