Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities (shall include but not be limited to):
• Perform electrical and instrumentation engineering design and analysis with adequate and appropriate documentation.
• Supervise / coordinate basic and detailed engineering to fulfill the project in accordance with the design criteria (as defined for the project, Company procedures and standards).
• Attend rig surveys and vendor facilities to define design requirement and develop scope of work required for equipment additions, modifications, repairs and conversions with sound, best practiced Engineering that meets regulatory standards and contract specifications.
• Perform load analysis, power utilization calculations for all power management, control system.
• Review and approve engineering documentation and drawings developed by company E&I engineers, when necessary.
• Ensure review/comment and approves appropriately of third party developed engineering documentation including drawings and calculations.
• Generates drawings and sketches as necessary to support any design calculation and documentation.
• Interface and collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and relevant company interdepartmental for required assistance.
• Prepare and assist with RFQ development to vendors to procure design required materials & equipment, and recertification in accordance with company standard.
• Applies assigned contractual, regulatory and company standards to the prosecution of the work.
• Ensure assigned engineering works are in accordance with applicable international / reliable standards and codes.
• Liaise and obtain class and regulatory approvals.
• Provide supervision and guidance to all assigned staff and/or vendors.
• Provide highly skilled technical and management advice and assistance to department management and personnel.
• Responsible in ensuring company standards, policies and procedures are fully adhered in all design and engineering tasks.
• Conducts periodic review of the rig specific technical specification and provides feedback for update.
• Participates in the investigation of incidents and corrective actions for non-conformances that require engineering solutions.
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
• Experience in offshore Electrical and control system design and engineering with drilling contractor, shipyard and or O&G EPC firms.
• Ability to work independently and within team environment.
• Good knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to gather, analyze, synthesize data and confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.
• Excellent communication (both oral & written) in English.
• Technical writing & reporting and negotiation skills.
• Leadership and influencing skills.
• Effective risk management, decision making and problem solving.
• Multi-tasking ability with Can-do Attitude.
• Knowledge of financial accounting, purchasing and management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Design analysis and electrical calculations.
• Capability to run hand calculations based on IEEE, ICE, NEC, ABS & DNV.
• Advanced knowledge of PLCs, Network Communications, and Motor control VFD / SCR. In addition, ability to do PLC hardware configuration and program modifications is preferred.
• Offshore environmental loading requirement.
