Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Project Engineer – Sustainability to join our team!

In this role, you will join a leading professional engineering, construction, and cost management team working on multiple projects in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD).  KAFD is a master plan development positioned to become Riyadh’s new Central Business District that combines a mixture of world-class commercial offices, hotels, retail spaces, and contemporary residences in addition to smart city solutions that redefine urban living.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review CEMP, Environmental impact assessments, and monthly environmental reports to ensure project requirements are met as per EAD standards. Identify potential impacts of construction activities on air, water, and soil quality.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing environmental management systems and propose mitigation measures while working effectively with sub-consultants and contractors.
  • Review the sustainability reports prepared by contractors/consultants.
  • Report and coordinate with clients and other authority stakeholders for the necessary approvals.
  • Advise the client on environmental and sustainability-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local authorities’ environmental regulations, permits, and standards (EAD and Estidama). Stay updated with environmental legislation and support the implementation of environmental management plans to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Understand mitigation strategies to prevent and control pollution, including air emissions, wastewater discharges, and hazardous waste generation on-site, to advise accordingly. Implement prevention measures to minimize environmental impact. Effectively communicate any site observations to the project team and client accordingly.
  • Assist the sub-consultants and D&B contractors in collecting the relevant data.
  • Manage, coordinate, and attend any site audits, monthly site investigations, and weekly progress meetings to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Review the prepared environmental reports and documentation required for regulatory compliance. Communicate environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders. Participate in environmental audits and assist consultants and D&B contractors with regulatory authorities as needed.
  • Manage and follow up with any renewal of environmental permits with the relevant stakeholders and provide a checklist for the associated documentation to EAD alongside consultants and contractors on board.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering or Architectural degree with Environmental and Sustainability certifications or equivalent
  • Minimum five years of related work experience
