Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Investigates technical difficulties, breakdowns or problems and develops appropriate recommendations to correct ‎fixed mechanical equipment.  Inspects  equipment, analyses  problems  and  develops  recommendations, undertakes ‎special studies,  reviews,  obtains  and  evaluates  data  and  maintains  records  of work  carried  out  to ensure  ‎proper  operating conditions of plant equipment.‎

  • Able to deliver training for mechanical technicians
  • Investigates   and   resolves   breakdowns  of  mechanical   equipment  such   as  steam   leaks   and   pressure   ‎vessel modification.   Visits  sites  to  inspect  equipment, discusses  problem  with  staff  concerned   and  collects  ‎further information.‎
  • Recommends   appropriate repair   methods   and   considers   special   equipment requirements  factors.    ‎Checks equipment specifications,  materials  availability  and  alternatives  within  SAP system;  checks  drawings  ‎to  assess access and other implications and develops recommendations accordingly.‎
  • Analyzes  the  problems  to  verify  its  nature  and  determines root  causes  and  recommends long  term  ‎solutions.‎ Obtains, verifies or develops recommendations to prevent problem ‎recurrence.‎
  • ‎Develops  minor  plant design  modifications  to be carried  out on an expense  basis to resolve mechanical ‎problems such  as designing  piping  layout  or  other  equipment changes,  defining  specifications  and  welding  ‎procedures, preparing materials take-offs and coordinating testing and installation.‎
  • Liaises with other  parties  and staff to obtain, discuss  and evaluate  data  on fixed mechanical  equipment  ‎problems and  maintenance,  obtains  data  on special equipment hire or work  from  contractors,  collects ‎equipment  data  and discusses work with related departments.‎
  • Maintains  records of work carried out and reports on progress.  Maintains  job files, prepares weekly status ‎report of assigned work for supervisor’s review and prepares special reports  to justify proposals.‎
  • Observes all safety and loss prevention procedures, analyzes maintenance data to assess equipment reliability, ‎visits scrap  yard  to identify  potentially  useful materials  and examines  technical options  from operational  ‎efficiency and cost impact viewpoints.‎

Qualification and Requirements

  • Bachelor degree In Mechanical Engineering.‎
  • ‎Minimum eight years experience in maintenance/ engineering filed.‎
  • Experience in Hyper compressors and booster primary compressor.
