Your role and responsibilities

Your Roles & Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for Delivering high quality, cost effective and timely engineering solutions to customers. Formulating plan, allocating resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. Initiating, coordinating, driving and overseeing team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability.

The work model for this role (onsite) This role is contributing to Process Automation based in Doha Qatar.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Ensuring development of performance targets in line with global/local targets and their achievement through regular oversight, defining required actions for improvement.
  • Actively embracing and implementing ABB Values, HSE, Integrity, Diversity & Inclusion and other people related strategies within the local engineering unit / team.
  • Prioritizing, engaging team, and implementing actions from the engagement survey.
  • Ensuring delivery of technical solutions according to customer requirements.
  • Driving development of processes/practices based on customer feedback.
  • Providing engineering support during the bid phase, ensures that the resources required to deliver the technical solutions are correctly accounted (e.g., the requirements for safety, technical competence, quality, schedule, and cost).
  • Defining and ensuring implementation of operating guidelines for team.
  • Guiding the team in building engineering/operational capability through training, mentoring and shadowing programs.
  • Supporting local division in establishing and deploying required frameworks/processes. Conducting and following-up certification process jointly with division.
  • Ensuring processes are in place to capture and share best practices and operational experiences. Facilitating best practice sharing within the engineering team.
  • Ensuring that all HSE and integrity related policies and standards are strictly adhered to and followed in local engineering unit/team.
  • Ensuring (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed.
  • Guiding, motivating, coaching, and developing direct and indirect subordinates within HR polices.
  • Conducting management reviews to guide operation of continuous improvement activities.
  • Participating in defining the annual budget for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints.
  • Conducting regular progress reviews, identifies, and manages technical risks.
  • Collaborating with supply chain and project management to negotiate with suppliers of services and equipment to meet the contractual obligations of systems orders.
  • Ensureing technical consulting assignments are carried-out to meet precontractual or contractual obligations.
  • Providing necessary support to project management, manufacturing, and/or quality during the testing of validation of “integrated factory acceptance test and/or digital solutions”.
  • Ensuring commissioning activities (if applicable) are implemented in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications for the role

  • Graduate Engineer in Electrical/ Electronics / instrumentation Engineering
  • 15-20years of experience in Control & Instrumentation field with experience in ABB project engineering preferably in chemical, Oil and Gas industry
  • Experienced engineer with competence in building and managing teams
