Civil Engineer

Job Description

This Position is responsible for overseeing the construction of civil engineering projects from start to finish. This role involves ensuring that projects are executed according to design specifications, timelines, and budgets, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality, in timely manner and quality standards as per the defined policies and procedures to achieve departmental operational plans and development.

Key Accountability Areas

  • Project Planning and Management:
    • Monitor project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Coordinate with architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the project.
    • Monitor progress against milestones and manage any deviations or delays.
  • Site Supervision:
    • Oversee construction activities on-site to ensure they comply with the design, specifications, and quality standards.
    • Ensure that all works adhere to safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Technical Design and Review:
    • review technical drawings, plans, and specifications provided by architects or engineers.
    • review material submittals and samples
  • Quality Control and Assurance:
    • Implement quality control procedures to ensure that the work meets the required standards.
    • Conduct inspections and tests to assess the quality of materials and workmanship.
    • Document and address any non-compliance or defects.
  • Cost Control:
    • Approve or reject variations in scope and changes to the project budget.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
    • Ensure that all site activities comply with safety regulations and policies.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Promote safe working practices and oversee the implementation of safety protocols.
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Serve as the main point of contact between the client, consultants, and subcontractors.
    • Report regularly on project progress to stakeholders.
    • Resolve conflicts or issues that arise between different parties involved in the project.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of project activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and site diaries.
    • Ensure that all project documentation is up-to-date and filed correctly.
    • Prepare handover documentation and as-built drawings upon project completion.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
