Chemical engineer, I have a total of more than 15 yrs in water 12 yrs of them at DEWA
(Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), my tasks are water tests, writing & editing SOP,
commissioning new pipelines and new reservoirs, disinfection the existing reservoirs and
mainline at DEWA’s networks, disinfection for bacteria contamination, handling
customers complaints about water quality, studying water quality issues in Dubai network
as well as Hatta water network, suggesting, studying and communicate regarding new
technology to improve the water quality, a member in. the comity of water quality in
DEWA, maintain the dose of chlorine dioxide at DEWA networks through doing a study,
calculations, and adjustment at chlorine dioxide plant as well as communication with
other sections for the required change to meet the head department strategy, A member
of the water quality comity in DEWA in 2018, very keen with water quality modeling by
using WATER GEMS. What I believe is The Water Quality Modeling is a millstone
toward a smart network.

disinfection, legionella control inside the
water network, managing the dose of
chlorine dioxide at the Dubai network,
improving the disinfection process by using
chlorine dioxide instead of calcium
hypochlorite, attending meetings and
presentations, and site visits related to our
job internal (inside DEWA) and external
(customers and suppliers).
• Playing an integral role in the completion
of both the chemical and bacteriological
analysis of the water samples from a variety
of sources across Dubai. In completing this
it has been necessary to obtain experience
in a combination of wet chemical analysis
methods and also instrumental analysis
methods including by use of IC, GCMS,
TOC, Spector Photometer collected, Flame
Photometer, and Autotitrator Acting as the
main focal point for both the receipt and
testing of the samples collected.
• Playing a key role in both the authoring
and provision of guidance on the
introduction of a new procedure for the
disinfection of new tanks. This task
required me to take on the ideas of others
whilst striving towards the outcome of a
quality procedure that could be
implemented by the DEWA organization.
In addition, this provided me with the
opportunity to work closely with both
colleagues of DEWA and also external
contracting companies with various levels
of expertise (Work experience and
educational qualifications).
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of both
the theoretical and practical aspects of
water sampling and analysis.
• Completing the calibration of laboratory
instruments as per manufacturer’s
recommendations and in-house
procedures.
• Attendance at customer complaints and
troubleshooting plus advising on all
problems related to water quality for
customers. This required a need to
interact well with the general public and to
also keep a cool head by maintaining a
professional image of the DEWA
Organization. In addition, when attending
to a complaint, I consistently focused on
the provision of a high level of service to
ensure overall customer satisfaction.

data for inclusion in the Water Laboratory
daily, weekly and monthly reports.
